Oregon Paycheck Taxes
Oregon withholds state income tax using its 2026 withholding method (graduated), in addition to federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare.
Oregon also has employee-paid payroll taxes beyond income tax withholding: Paid Leave Oregon (PFML), Statewide Transit Tax (STT). These are calculated separately from state income tax and shown as their own line items in your results.
Metro Supportive Housing Services (SHS) and Multnomah County PFA local income taxes are not modeled. Local taxes may apply depending on your city, county, or school district and may not be included in this estimate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Oregon have state income tax?
Yes. Oregon withholds state income tax on a graduated schedule based on the filing status and allowances claimed on Form OR-W-4.
Does Oregon's statewide transit tax come out of employee wages?
Yes. The Statewide Transit Tax is a flat 0.1% employee-paid tax on Oregon wages, funding public transit — unlike most of Oregon's other payroll deductions, it has no wage cap and applies to every dollar of wages.
What is Paid Leave Oregon?
Paid Leave Oregon is a separate paid-family-and-medical-leave payroll program from the transit tax above, funded by its own employee-paid premium and shown as its own line item.
Does this calculator include Portland-area local taxes?
No. The Metro Supportive Housing Services tax and the Multnomah County Preschool for All tax both apply to income earned in the Portland metro area, but this calculator doesn't currently model either one — if you're subject to them, your actual paycheck will show additional deductions beyond this estimate.
What taxes are deducted from an Oregon paycheck?
Federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare, Oregon state income tax, the Statewide Transit Tax, and a Paid Leave Oregon premium. Portland-area local taxes, where applicable, aren't included — see above.
